In a recent incident, the Lake Town police station arrested three individuals who were apprehended while attempting to extort money from a family visiting the famous Pooja Mandap area of Lake Town during the ongoing festival. The bid to snatch valuables was foiled by Bidhannagar police during the early hours of Panchami. The harrowing encounter took place in Lake Town Third Lane when a visitor to Calcutta ventured out to explore the pandals late at night.
Three youths began following the visitor, and their actions escalated to an attempt to strangle a woman. Her screams attracted the attention of local residents who swiftly apprehended the trio. Lake Town police were informed, and they promptly arrested the three accused individuals, identified as Mohammad Sikandar, Mohammad Imran, and Mohammad Taslim, all residents of the New Town area. Police sources indicate that they will seek custody of the suspects.
